M&T Bank Commercial Deposit Specialist in Baltimore, Maryland

Overview:

This position will have the responsibility for driving Liquidity Solutions for the Commercial Bank and serving as a SME (subject matter expert) on liquidity/deposits. This will include development of collaborative relationships with internal partners to increase new sales of Liquidity Products (Deposits) in the Commercial Bank. In conjunction with the Liquidity Solutions team, the candidate will develop Sales Enablement strategies that will ultimately lead to a higher propensity to close Liquidity sales. Actively partner with RM’s and other CPLS sales professionals in the Commercial Banking Segment to acquire, expand and retain targeted customer relationships. Maintain and report pipeline and sales data for the assigned regions. Maintain and prioritize targeted databases for opportunities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement liquidity/deposit strategies to attract new commercial clients and expand the bank's existing deposit base.

  • Collaborate with Commercial Segments on driving on balance sheet deposits to the bank through expansion of existing relationships and assist in acquiring prospective clients.

  • Understand the financial needs of commercial clients and guide Relationship Managers/Treasury Management Consultants and other CPLS sales professionals to propose suitable deposit products and services.

  • Collaborate with the Liquidity Solutions team, Treasury, Product and CPLS senior management on the current deposit position for the bank, as it relates to go-to-market strategies and pricing.

  • Lead specific deposit “drives” that could be segment or relationship-building related, e.g., Corporate Banking focus, Loan only client focus, data mining vertical opportunities, etc.

  • Stay updated with the latest trends and developments in the banking industry; share articles with business partners.

  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth onboarding and servicing of clients.

  • Meet or exceed sales targets while ensuring compliance with the bank's policies and regulations.

  • Hold consistent cadence of Regional deposit pipeline meetings, including updates on deposit products and rates.

  • Join client or prospect calls with meaningful deposit opportunities.

  • Educate business partners on liquidity and deposit solutions, develop Talk Track, and ensure Edison materials are current.

  • Conduct presentations and demonstrations to explain the features and benefits of the bank's deposit products both internally and externally, as coordinated with the business segments.

  • Prepare sales reports and provide feedback to management.

  • Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies.

  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.

  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities:

The incumbent is responsible for approximately 7% of the Branch sales goal for non-credit products.

This position carries a VC goal of approximately $1MM in gross contribution.

This position interacts with, supports, and shares customer & portfolio goals with approximately 40 RM’s, Senior Managers and related Analysts.

The customer base for this position includes 5,000+ relationships, $1B in deposits and $8B+ in loans.

The incumbent is the primary or secondary point of contact within the Division for Product Management, Marketing, project managers and other M&T Bank departments.

Supervisory/ Managerial Responsibilities:

Not applicable.

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Management, Marketing or four years equivalent work experience in lieu of degree.

Minimum of 5 years sales/financial services experience.

Fluency in database software such as MS Access.

Very strong written and verbal communication skills.

Expert level proficiency with MS Word, MS PowerPoint or similar.

Expert level proficiency with M&T Bank information systems a plus.

Current and historical understanding of the financial services industry is required.

The incumbent must demonstrate the ability to lead teams and the ability to work as member of a team, as appropriate.

Must be adept at developing the skills and product knowledge of others, particularly junior RM’s, Analysts, and RMSP’s.

Must have experience in Customer Service, including experience as a decision maker and expert advisor.

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $79,184.45 - $131,974.08 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
