M&T Bank Cybersecurity Program Manager in Buffalo, New York

Overview:

Oversees the overarching Cybersecurity Program, consisting of multiple complex projects and programs, ensuring alignment with the strategic cybersecurity objectives. Manages changes to project scope, schedule, and costs using rigorous verification techniques to maintain accurate and updated cybersecurity project plans. The Cybersecurity Program Manager facilitates stakeholder and customer understanding of Cybersecurity initiatives aligned to overarching Cybersecurity program.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage related Cybersecurity projects and operations of all cybersecurity functions, ensuring alignment with organizational security imperatives.

  • Establish clear roles and responsibilities for Cybersecurity team members and stakeholders. Partner with senior leaders to monitor cost, schedule, and technical performance across projects.

  • Build and facilitate divisional routines and deliverables to ensure efficient communication, engagement with and operation of the Cybersecurity Program

  • Create comprehensive project plans, forecasts, and schedules. Strategize with stakeholders to capture detailed cybersecurity requirements, constraints, and assumptions using methods like planning sessions, brainstorming, and focus groups, and incorporate these into the project charter.

  • Ensure project plans include detailed work breakdown structures, Cybersecurity-specific organization charts, cost/budget outlines, and plans for communication, risk management, quality, and resource allocation.

  • Effectively communicate cybersecurity project plans to all affected parties to ensure a shared understanding, set clear expectations, and align stakeholders and team members.

  • Ensure the execution of tasks outlined in the Cybersecurity project plan, manage budgets and forecasts, and monitor project work, including managing change controls.

  • Utilize appropriate tools and techniques to measure Cybersecurity project performance, identify variances, implement corrective actions, and communicate progress to stakeholders. Address program issues by selecting actions that consider constraints and objectives to ensure continued program success.

  • Implement approved actions and workarounds to mitigate Cybersecurity risks, ensuring project continuity and security.

  • Build team cohesiveness and improve performance by leading, mentoring, training, and motivating the Cybersecurity team. Facilitate cooperation, ensure project efficiency, and boost morale.

  • Determine and coordinate the allocation of internal as well as 3rd party resources among cybersecurity projects for the overall benefit of the program.

  • Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.

  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 years’ proven project management experience,

OR in lieu of a degree,

A combined minimum of 14 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 10 years’ proven project management experience.

Proficiency with personal computers as well as pertinent software packages.

Strong knowledge of project management methodology.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly an ability to negotiate, influence and gain consensus.

Regularly communicates verbally and in writing with executive management on status of initiatives, in a professional and understandable manner.

Excellent problem-solving skills.

Ability to work individually as well as a member of a team.

Self-motivated, results-driven and well-organized individual.

Ability to handle multiple tasks and work under time constraints in support of various assignments.

Ability to function professionally at many different levels (clients, management and peers).

Strong interpersonal skills necessary for business partner relationships within and outside the organization.

Ability to build mutual trust and encourage respect; open to diverse points of view.

Education and Experience Preferred:

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

Program Management Professional (PgMP) certification.

Master’s degree.

Previous work experience in Cybersecurity or Technology

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $118,945.80 - $198,243.00 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
