M&T Bank Director of Dealer Services Product in Buffalo, New York

Overview:

Provides strategic and innovative leadership over product design, development, execution, and communication of long-term strategies for the Dealer Services (Indirect Lending and Dealer Commercial Services) business. Responsible for the development of market strategies (i.e. expansion opportunities, product focus and roadmap, pricing, expense planning, and legal and compliance management) and goals to support successful implementation; monitors achievement of the goals. Manages the development and implementation of supporting policy and procedures.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Set the strategic direction of the Dealer Services product portfolio and roadmap, ensuring the team works together and with other internal and external resources/partners to meet customers’ needs while maximizing profitability and remaining compliant with internal policies and external regulations.

  • Manage the P&L for the Dealer Services portfolio.

  • Oversee operational functions within the Dealer Services business including loan closing and collateral verification to build efficiencies, strengthen collaboration with the sales team and improve the customer experience.

  • Manage all aspects of new geographic expansion or product implementation, including but not limited to, design and development of services, portfolio acquisition and process improvements; serve in a liaison capacity with other areas of the bank to ensure the requisite support for products and/or services.

  • Direct the development and use of forecasting tools to generate balance and yield forecasts for business unit forecasting and planning, monthly ALCO (Asset Liability Committee) submissions and semi-annual CCAR (Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review) submissions.

  • Oversee activities related to portfolio loan sales/securitization process, such as investor roadshows, offering memorandums, and execution of sales and 3rd party contracts with coordination from legal.

  • Maintain awareness of new competitive developments in Indirect Lending and Floorplan financing and adjust product development roadmap to retain or improve competitive standing.

  • Capture customer/dealer feedback and incorporate into the product design process.

  • Represent dealer services with internal partners across M&T including Merchant Services, Wealth, Banking Services, Credit, Risk and Finance.

  • Work closely with Legal and Compliance to understand regulatory requirements and evolving regulatory guidance. Ensure all programs and policies are compliant with the latest regulatory requirements set forth by governing entities including the Federal Reserve and the CFPB (Consumer Financial Protection Bureau).

  • Work with Audit to promptly address cited concerns and ensure effective processes and procedures are implemented to resolve any findings.

  • Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

  • Exercise usual authority of a manager concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management and terminations.

  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.

  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for overseeing product management and operations functions for the Dealer Services (Indirect Lending and Dealer Commercial Services) business that has a nationwide presence. Execute on sales strategies both in footprint where M&T has brand presence and outside of footprint to new to bank customers. The position must collaborate with business partners across the enterprise including Consumer Bank, Commercial Bank, Audit, Risk and Legal.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree, and a minimum of 12 years’ experience in Marketing, Finance, Bank Operations, Credit Analysis and/or relevant product line(s), or in lieu of a degree a combined minimum of 16 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 12 years’ experience in Marketing, Bank Operations, Credit Analysis and/or relevant product line(s).

  • 6 years’ managerial and/or project management experience in relevant product line(s).

  • Broad-based strategic mindset.

  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work well with others within and across teams and organizations of the Bank.

  • Strong decision-making and lateral thinking skills.

  • Strong communications skills.

  • Dedicated customer service focus.

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • Master’s degree.

  • 10 years’ managerial and/or project management experience in relevant product line(s).

  • Extensive knowledge of Bank/personal computer software programs utilized by the Division.

  • Ability to interact professionally with all levels of personnel, including senior management.

  • Self-motivated, well-organized individual.

  • Action-oriented individual.

  • Ability to work under critical time constraints.

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $157,495.91 - $292,492.42 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
