M&T Bank Senior Cybersecurity BISO (Consumer, Retail & Business Banking) in Buffalo, New York
This position is a hybrid role based out of Buffalo, NY working three days in the office and allowing two days of work from home flexibility. Relocation provided.
As the Business Information Security Officer (BISO ) of the Retail, Business Banking, and Digital CIO at M&T Bank, you will act as a trusted advisor and security champion working with the Retail, Business Banking, and Digital CIO, senior leadership, and Cybersecurity organization Reporting directly to the Deputy CISO , you will build strategic relationships with business unit leaders to align cybersecurity strategies with business objectives, ensuring that security measures support and enhance business operations. Manage risk by identifying vulnerabilities, influencing implementation of appropriate controls, and guide compliance with relevant regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
As a senior security leader, you will interface with the Retail, Business Banking, and Digital CIO and senior leaders to advocate for a robust security posture while enabling business enablement and transformation.
Drives Line of Business (LOB) cybersecurity risk deliverables through collaboration with the Retail, Business Banking, and Digital CIO, Cybersecurity, and other lines of defense
Foster and maintain strategic relationships to build a security culture that delivers security-by-design controls and ensures cybersecurity practices are built into business unit initiatives for the entire lifecycle
Provides guidance and advocacy regarding the prioritization of LOB investments that impact cybersecurity and ensuring Cybersecurity initiatives enable business outcomes
Advises LOB management on risk issues related to cybersecurity and recommends actions in support of the bank's wider risk management and compliance programs
Monitors cybersecurity trends internal and external to the bank and keeps LOB leadership informed about cybersecurity related issues
Manages cybersecurity alignment reporting to LOB Leadership
Communicate effectively with all levels of organizational leadership, conveying complex technical concepts in a clear and concise manner.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 9 years’ relevant work experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 13 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 7 years relevant work experience in an operationally focused security practitioner role
At least 5 years’ experience working with business leadership and enterprise projects
Preferred Qualifications:
Proven experience in cybersecurity domains such as vulnerability management, identity and access management, and risk governance
Experience building strategic plans in partnership with senior leadership, third parties, project managers, technical and cybersecurity subject matter experts, and business subject matter experts
Has a deep understanding of security across applications, internally managed and externally hosted cloud computing platforms
Excellent ability to gain buy-in of executive leaders across the bank through strong communication, influence, and escalation of issues
Excellent ability to translate complex cybersecurity issues to business leader initiatives and strategies

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $154,629.62 - $257,716.03 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
